The video features the story of a beneficiary supported in training on sewing and tailoring organized in the framework of the IOM-UNDP Global Programme “Making Migration work for Sustainable Development,” funded by the Swiss government through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by IOM Serbia in collaboration with the local self-Government of Prokuplje, the Roma Association and the Technical School “15 May”. In the framework of the same project, Technical school was provided with a new textile classroom, machines and computer equipment.
Currently, most of them work temporarily in seasonal jobs. Over 160 youth from Roma population of Prokuplje and the surrounding area completed professional trainings for CNC machines and sewing. The Roma Association constantly works with local companies and employers on opportunities for employment of young people who have finished these trainings.The main objective of this project is the creation of positive local conditions for dignified employment through training and job placement support which enables the integration of returnees under the readmission proces, mostly Roma, into the local community.
