Regional meeting on Assisted Voluntary Return (AVRR)

Regional meeting for IOM AVRR field counselors from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia took place in Belgrade on 8 March 2018.

The meeting was held under the project AVR(R) Action in the Western Balkans: Facilitating Knowledge Transfer from Belgium to the Western Balkan Region, funded by Fedasil, as a complementary activity to the project Regional Support to Protection-Sensitive Migration Management in the Western Balkans and Turkey.

Both projects aim to support the creation of national structures for the assisted voluntary return of particularly vulnerable categories of migrants.

The aim of this regional meeting was to inform IOM AVRR field counselors on the new AVRR framework for field work, in cooperation with service providers from national institutions, especially for sensitive migrant categories – unaccompanied children and victims of trafficking, as well as other vulnerable categories.
